Gaming Audio Headsets for the Oculus Quest 2

The best gaming VR headset is the Oculus Quest 2. Though by default the VR headset plays audio out loud, there's an easy way to have a hassle-free, immersive experience.

Though VR isn't as prevalent as game consoles yet, it's becoming an increasingly popular platform, gathering a growing enthusiast crowd. The Oculus Quest 2 has been doing very well, steadily dominating the headset market. In fact, according to the Steam Hardware Survey, the Oculus Quest 2 usage rose to nearly 40% of VR hardware users. Undoubtedly, the VR market is growing, especially among immersive-experience enthusiasts.

By default, the Oculus Quest 2 plays audio with its external speakers, which really isn't ideal. Though that might work in settings with multiple people, it cuts away from the immersion aspect. So you'd look to use another device.

There aren't many options for a wireless Oculus Quest 2 audio headset. However, we at SteelSeries have multiple gaming VR audio headsets ready for you.

The Oculus Quest 2 is wireless, why aren't you?

You can plug in two types of typical headphones or earphones with it, since it accepts either 3,5 mm jacks or USB-C. But the large negative to this are the wires, especially if they're long. The Oculus Quest 2 is already wireless, so adding additional cables can be a discomfort (it just ruins the future-tech vibe, you know?). It's hard to imagine playing Half-Life: Alyx or similar games with a bunch of wires around your head or listening to any kind of audio from movies or Netflix. Oculus Quest 2 apps

Compatible Arctis headsets with the Oculus Quest 2

Any of our wireless headsets that have the "dongle," or the small USB attachment, can work. All you have to do is attach the dongle into the USB slot on the Oculus Quest 2 itself, then put your SteelSeries headset on after. Here's a list of some great options for a compatible Oculus Quest 2 audio headset:

What can I do with that?

You can check out our community manager RaiBOT01 setting up the Oculus Quest 2 with the Arctis 7P+ (time-stamped for 9:45). The stream went on with a variety of puzzle games, such as Tetris Effect. RaiBOT01 commented on quality of the sound. But even if you want to do something other than gaming, the Oculus offers so many apps and activities within its store, for which you don't even need a PC.

As the Oculus Quest 2 blasts audio by default, it's much more immersive and less disruptive to others to contain the audio to your ears. That will make watching Netflix, YouTube, or playing Beat Saber much more immersive. There are also plenty of fitness-related apps, and having a wireless headset instead of more wires can make a difference.

The versatility of wireless Arctis headsets really comes through here. Not only do those headsets work with multiple platforms, they're automatically compatible with the leading VR headset. Get wireless, and get immersed.
