How to Heal in Back 4 Blood

How to make sure you and your teammates are fighting fit.

Back 4 Blood is the newest zombie-centric survival game on the block, and it's chock-full of the undead to slay. It's the closest thing we'll get to a third entry in the Left 4 Dead series, developed by Turtle Rock Studios. It's a satisfying mix of challenging group play with a horde of zombies and plenty of reasons to fell them.

But if you want to keep you and your teammates safe, you're going to need to learn how to heal up. Luckily, you can make sure you're all pumped and primed for the next volley from the zombies looking to tear you limb from limb. It just wouldn't be a fair fight otherwise. Here's how you can heal in Back 4 Blood.

You won't just be able to wait for your health to regenerate in Back 4 Blood. You've got to find the items all around each level needed to get you back in the game. Healing items include Pain Pills, Medkits, and Bandages. But you can't just treat each one of these things as a consumable. They're much more involved than that.

Each item will require a different waiting period when you use it. For instance, if you use a Medkit, which restores most of your health, you will need to both wait to apply it and wait for it to completely heal you. You can use it on others as well, but the same rules still apply. That means you need to be choosy about which healing items you use on yourself and others, staying mindful of lengthy application and healing times.

If you need health in a pinch, opt for pills or a bandage or something of that nature, as the less health the items you've collected restore means less of a waiting time for you to bring it to fruition. But you can and should let your teammates know when you need to apply healing items. It could take you out of the action for a moment, which might endanger your co-op partners. With that said, healing is a bit of a dance that requires planning and subtlety that you will need to work out and communicate to others.

So while finding healing items in Back 4 Blood is the way you do heal yourself per se, you'll need to learn the best ways to use said items when it's appropriate. Only then will you be able to protect you and the rest of your squad efficiently. And dying in combat isn't very efficient.
